My experiment was to test to see weather the container makes a difference on how a plant grows.
Pictures of the plant I planted in soil
Results
As you can see all the plants grew especially the small container.
Problems
One problem that we had halfway through our experiment some people knocked our terracotta pot, so we had to only use one seed because the other one fell down the deck.
Another problem is that someone took the watering bottle home and we had to use a yogurt container.
Things I would do differently next time
Change the different types of pots.
Possible further studies
I could keep going and see what one grows the most in 2 months.
Since we are doing our theme on plants we decided to take one apart and put them on our blog here is what we are doing.
We had to dissect a flower. This is what we ended up with.
Sepals Petals Anther Stamen
Stamen: This is in the middle of the carpels and is different to the carpels.
Anther: The part where bees and wasps get their pollen from.
Petals: The part that is the prettiest part of the flower, it opens out so the anthers and the carpel are in the middle.
Carpel: Carpels surround the Stamen and is different to the Stamen.
From the past couple of weeks our classroom has been doing an experiment on plants this is the progress so far
This is our medium plastic container as you can see it has grown allot since the last update it is now about 5-10 cm tall.
This is our shoe box and the box is actually ripping these have not grown at all. What a shame.
These ones are immaculate they have grown a lot about 5 cm.
These ones are like the shoe box grown just a little bit but not much.
In our theme work we have made experiments on plants.
This is what we started with
This Term our topic is plants and we have been planting our seeds have a look.
Aim: To see if a plant will grow with a small container
Prediction: We think our plant will grow in a big container
Procedure:
1. Get 4 containers ( small plastic container, Medium plastic container, shoe box, terracotta pot.
2. Put 2 seeds in each container just on top of the soil.
3. Place them outside under shelter.
4. At night when we get let go put them inside.
5. In the morning put them back outside repeat until they die.
6. Water plants with the same amount everyday
This is the progress it has made
This week I have chosen my handwriting because it is the neatest for a couple of weeks. I have tried to keep my letters on the line, space my words out and not made a mistake.
This is my work of the week.
This week we have planted some seeds to see what plants need to grow and How long it takes them to grow. Here is what we done.
1. Get 4 ( Terracotta, Shoebox, plastic container medium and a small plastic container. Fill them up with dirt.
2. Put 2 seeds in each container just under the soil.
3. Place them outside.
4. At night when we get let go for home time Casey puts them on top of her desk.
5.When Casey gets to school she needs to put them in the same place everyday.
6.Water the plants ( Only fill up to the line on Casey’s drink bottle ).
7. Everyday Tayla needs to water them everyday at lunch time.
8. Everyday Alesha needs to take a picture at lunch time of each of the plants.
This week the blue group in maths held a statistical experiment to find out which plane flew the best out of the delta and the canard. We talked about how many different ways we could throw the plane that would effect how well it flew. We then went outside and gave them lots of test flights based on how well we could throw them. We then measured the distances in meters and gathered all our information on excel.
Looking at the data we couldn’t decide what was the better plane so we graphed the information.
The first line graph was hard to read because there was so much information on it, so we worked out the average distances, then graphed that information.
As you can see the best plane was the canard and the best way to throw it to get the most distance was softly upwards.
This is my best score so far.

This is my first work of the week for 2009. This personal writing is five minutes of my holiday. I have focused on putting the five senses into my writing to create a clear
picture in the readers head of what is happening.
“Mum, Elaine come over here. I see one” Mum and Elaine come rushing over. He/She was humongous we could only see half of him. Elaine tried to touch him/her but it kept moving away.
“Ok, we are going back now” Mum yelled to Elaine and I.
” Mum, what do crabs eat? ” I asked.
” pieces of dead fish, hatching turtles and many other things” she replied.
“and how can they hear” I stutter.
” I don’t have a clue they might have little tiny ears ” Mum mumbles back.
Thank you.
